We take children from Reception (aged 4 or 5 years). However some parents have asked for advice on where to send their children prior to applying to Discovery New School.
As in all things, parents should consider what is right for their child, as there is no 'best' nursery or playgroup. You know your child best, and whilst others can be a source of advice, always follow your instincts!
Babies aged 0-2 years
The research suggests that very young children are best cared for by one or two loving, caring adults who they know well. This could be a parent, relative, nanny, childminder or another 'key person'. Research suggests that children of this age do not need 'socialisaton' but rather key bonds with special adults in their life.
Aged 3 years until starting school
They are many lovely nurseries and playgroups around the area. For those interested in a Montessori nursery there are Montessori nurseries just outside Crawley. For nurseries within Crawley, other parents are often a good source of information. Going to a Montessori nursery does not make it more likely that your child will get a place at Discovery for Reception, however it may be advantageous for children to have a Montessori start to their education.
