Progression from 4 to 11 years

There are three phases in Montessori education at primary level: 3-6 years, 6-9 years and 9-12 years. In Montessori these are sometimes known as 'planes of development'. We take children from 4-11 years, as this is the UK system. However our curriculum still falls into these three phases. Each phase leads on from the last, encouraging children to further independence and responsibility. By the time they leave us for senior schools they are confident and able learners.

9 -12 years

6 - 9 years

3-6 years

Some children in year 4 may need additional practise at some of the 6-9 curriculum. Other children in year 3 may be able to progress to work earlier than expeted. Their teacher will carefully observe them and plan for what they need.

Younger year 2 children may need extra time working on 3-6 curriculum. Some year 1 children may be ready to learn things within the 6-9 curriculum. They will be carefully observed and their teacher will plan for what they need.
